Meghan Markle a no-show at banquet for Trump

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, was a no-show at the Buckingham Palace banquet for President Trump’s state visit to England on Monday.

Markle — who is married to Prince Harry and on maternity leave after giving birth to their first child, Archie — sat out the dinner amid a feud with the president that included him calling the former actress “nasty” in an interview with a British newspaper.

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, the wife of Prince William, was in attendance at the banquet as were Trump’s adult children.

The American-born Markle also missed a royal luncheon at the palace with Trump and first lady Melania Trump earlier Monday – although Harry attended.

Harry apparently also sat out the dinner.

In an interview with The Sun published on Saturday, Trump was asked about Markle referring to him as “misogynistic” and “divisive” and her claim that she would move to Canada if he was elected president in 2016.

“I didn’t know that. What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty,” he said, according to the newspaper.
