Cris Carter feuding with Fox over ‘Thursday Night Football’ role

Cris Carter’s leave of absence at Fox Sports could be permanent.

Carter has missed the past three shows of “First Things First” on FS1. The Big Lead reported that absence will be ongoing pending an investigation by Fox.

Front Office Sports reports that the Hall of Fame receiver is feuding with network brass over the decision to keep him off of Fox’s “Thursday Night Football” coverage and that this split may not be resolved.

Fox has instead turned to Tony Gonzalez and Rob Gronkowski to enhance their Thursday night coverage, even though Carter’s show shoots at the same Manhattan site as the night-time coverage on Thursdays.

“I was told it was bad,” one source told the website.

Former Giants lineman Chris Canty has been filling in for Carter since Thursday, alongside co-hosts Nick Wright and Jenna Wolfe.

Carter has been with Fox since December 2016 after a lengthy run at ESPN.
