The David Blough era in Detroit had a magical beginning.
The Lions rookie quarterback threw a 75-yard touchdown bomb to a wide-open Kenny Golladay on the first completion of his career. It was Blough’s second throw of the game — the first one was incomplete — and came on a busted coverage by the Bears secondary. It tied the Thanksgiving game at 7-7 after Mitchell Trubisky marched the Bears down the field on the first drive of the game.
Blough, who was undrafted out of Purdue, was forced into the starter’s role with Matthew Stafford out with a broken bone in his back and backup Jeff Driskel dealing with a hamstring injury.
Blough then engineered a scoring drive on his second possession, ending with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Marvin Jones.
