Saudi Arabia’s king on Friday sent his “sincere condolences” to families of the victims of the shooting by a Saudi military lieutenant at the Pensacola naval base, President Trump said.
King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud “just called to express his sincere condolences and give his sympathies to the families and friends of the warriors who were killed and wounded in the attack that took place just recently, just this morning, in Pensacola, Florida,” Trump said during an event at the White House.
“The king said that the Saudi people are greatly angered by the barbaric actions of the shooter and that this person in no way, shape or form represents the feelings of the Saudi people, who love the American people so much,” the president said.
“So that was just given to me by the king of Saudi Arabia. And I can tell you it’s a horrible thing that took place.”
The president said the shooting, which left three innocent people dead and eight injured, is under investigation, and “we’re going to get to the bottom of it.” The shooter also was killed.
