‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ trailer: Paul Rudd gets spooked

If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, who you gonna call?

Paul Rudd, of course!

In a trailer for the upcoming franchise film “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” the ageless, 50-year-old “Ant-Man” star finds himself unlocking a spooky mystery in a small midwestern town.

The teaser, released Monday morning, follows a broke, young mom (played by “The Sinner” star Carrie Coon, 38) and her two kids (“Stranger Things” star Finn Wolfhard, 16, and “Fuller House” actress Mckenna Grace, 13), who flee to Oklahoma to start a new life with help from a notable ancestor.

“The only thing that’s left in our name is this creepy old farmhouse my grandfather left us in the middle of nowhere,” says Finn’s Trevor before he uncovers a familiar, spooky green discharge. Trevor’s arrival in town, coupled with tremors rattling the area, catches the attention of school teacher Mr. Grooberson, played by Rudd, who notes, “There hasn’t been a ghost sighting in 30 years.”

Buckle up, folks, as Trevor sets out to uncover the truth about his grandfather and winds up discovering the clunky, white ECTO-1 ambulance — which he takes for a spin through farmland before blazing into the town center.

“Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” which premieres July 10, 2020, features multiple throwbacks to the original 1984 film and its sequel five years later. It is directed by Jason Reitman, 42, the son of Ivan Reitman, 73, who directed the first two franchise films, and original stars Sigourney Weaver, 70, Dan Aykroyd, 67, and Bill Murray, 69, all signed on to reprise their original roles.

“It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!” Weaver told Parade magazine last June.

The script is written by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan.
