Three teens busted in citywide string of newsstand robberies

Three 15-year-olds were arrested Tuesday and charged in two violent subway newsstand robberies, according to police.

They’re part of a group of 13 young hellions sought in connection with 14 similar stick-ups, cops said.

The three taken into custody Tuesday are accused of participating in two of the heists.

At about 7 p.m. Dec. 22, a 53-year-old worker at a newsstand at Brooklyn’s Borough Hall subway station was attacked and beaten by four youths, who left him bloodied and made off with an undetermined amount of cash and candy from behind the counter.

Around 11:30 p.m. Dec. 16, a newsstand worker at the Atlantic Avenue station was attacked by four youths, one of them wielding a knife. The worker was beaten and the youths ran off with cash.

Both robberies occurred along the No. 2 train line, according to police.

The three teens were charged with robbery, cops said.

The NYPD is trying to track down the rest of the newsstand gang.

Cops couldn’t immediately provide details about the other 14 robberies.
