Mountain lion stalks children in California front yard, startling video shows

A mountain lion slinked into a California homeowner’s front yard and stared down two kids riding bikes in the street, alarming new video shows.

The video, taken in Pacifica — about 15 minutes from San Francisco — shows the big cat sitting nonchalantly before it suddenly jumped over a fence, ducked under a neighbor’s truck and then ran away.

“I thought it was somebody’s dog that had gotten into the yard and I was like, ‘Hey, get out of here!’ Then it turned and that’s when I was like, ‘Oh my God! It’s a mountain lion!’” resident Timothy Kerrisk, who took the video, told local station KRON 4.

When he noticed the animal had its eyes on the children, he yelled at them to “Get inside!,” he said.

“And it came back towards me and it was still watching the kids, jumped over the gate right here,” Kerrisk recalled. “Still watching the kids, so I had to come out of the house and chase him out from under the car and up over the hill.”

The mountain lion had earlier chased Kerrisk’s cat through his yard that same day — and even killed a deer.

“I know that cat was fed, and I know that it was definitely hungry because it was going for my cat, then the kids, and then killed a deer up behind my neighbor’s house,” he said.

Local residents told the outlet that the mountain lion is probably sticking around because the neighborhood is near hills and a wooded area full of wildlife.
