Video shows SUV plow into state highway worker, drive off with him on hood

Wild footage shows an SUV driver plowing into a state highway worker — then taking him for a ride on the hood.

The clip, posted by the state Department of Transportation on Twitter Monday, shows the Highway Emergency Local Patrol worker trying to direct traffic at the scene of a crash on Palisades Parkway in Hudson Valley last Thursday, according to the agency.

He approaches two cars in front of a long line of traffic, motioning for them to stop, and booty bumps a red Toyota SUV as it tries to inch forward.

The driver briefly tries to move around the man — before accelerating into him. The worker then jumps stomach-first onto the hood of the car and rides it as the vehicle zooms down the highway.

Eventually, a motorist parked off the side of the highway runs out into traffic to flag the car down, and the driver stops, the video shows.

The worker is then seen limping to the side of the road, taking off his hard hat and falling to the ground.

The agency said the worker was injured but will survive — and cops are still investigating the incident.

“The HELP truck driver was obviously shaken up and suffered non-life threatening injuries,” spokesman Joseph Morrissey said. “The case is under investigation by the New York State Police.”
