Where to buy a nap dress before they sell out again

After almost a year of quarantine life due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, loungewear has become more popular than ever before.

While working from home, there really seems to be no point in wearing anything but your favorite sweats.

Sure you might throw on a nice sweater and a dab of makeup on the days you have Zoom calls but ultimately there’s no other reason you shouldn’t be comfy while you work from your couch, right?

After 12 months of wearing the same things, it might be time to change up your comfy clothes wardrobe.

Where to start? Nap dresses, naturally. Get in on the dreamy trend before you have to wear business casual again.

What’s a Nap Dress?

Nap dresses first came to life in 2019, when Hill House Home launched a variety of styles. What is a nap dress, you ask? Imagine a chic garment that you would see Daphne from Netflix’s popular “Bridgerton” series wearing around the house or a dress that could very well jump out of a “Little House on the Prairie” novel.

You could, of course, theoretically wear these comfy dresses to bed, but instead, the garments have been coined for napping and lounging specifically.

“It is not the same thing as a caftan, which, though often luxurious, is more shapeless and more grown-up. It is not a housedress, which we tend to associate with older women shuffling onto the stoop to grab the morning paper, the curlers still in their hair,” wrote Rachel Syme in her definitive ode to the garment in the New Yorker. “A housedress is about forgetting the self, or at least hiding it under layers of quilted fabric. The Nap Dress, on the other hand, suggests a cheeky indulgence for one’s body, and a childlike return to waking up bleary-eyed hours before dinner.”

Where can I buy a Nap Dress?

Recently a report from Fast Company stated that the clothing company sold $1 million of its bestselling Nap Dress in just 12 minutes, and acquired more revenue than it had made in the entire year of 2019 in just one day. Since then, dozens of brands have followed suit after “nap dresses” blew up on social media.

While you’ll have to pay a pretty penny for an OG Nap Dress from Hill House Home (if you can get your hands on one!) – there are plenty of great brands selling similar styles that are regularly in stock or a fraction of the cost.
