‘The Music Man’ dances back to Broadway

It’s Hugh Jackman with Sutton Foster in Broadway’s revival of “The Music Man.” Choreographer Warren Carlyle’s twirling so fast that he’s had just one 6 to 7 p.m. dinner hour for months.

“During the pandemic I worked best I could. And I walked my puggle dog. A lot. Since his feet are shorter he’s now very glad I’m back at my job and leaving him alone.

“Hugh loves this show, which originally opened 1957 and he did it in high school. It’s so American. So Fourth of July patriotic. Look, I’m British but now an American citizen. I’ve been in the United States since 2007. I love this country. The show’s all American and you can take kids to see it.

“This is a huge dancing role. It needs ice baths. We train three days a week but Hugh’s been prepping a year and a half. Big financial investment show like this could really take maybe seven years to develop. He won a Tony for his last Broadway musical, ‘The Boy From Oz,’ 18 years ago. For this one, we follow the original script except for its famous number ‘76 Trombones.’ That’s new music, new orchestrations and a nine-minute dance sequence.

“I routined it with a jar of pennies on my dining table. Straight line. Thirty dancers. Then a triangle. Then diagonal line. At rehearsals I used pennies for the marching band. My survival’s two naps daily. One, morning; one, afternoon; bed 7 p.m. Look, Hugh and I are friends 25 years. We’ve had two years to think about this.

“Only problem? The kids. I never worked with kids before. Like the Olympics they were jumping all over. To solve the problem I finally banned their mothers and chaperones way away.”

“The Music Man” will make its music at the Winter Garden.

From crybabies to fur babies

Asking a question. Taking no sides. Zapping Chris Cuomo for supporting his brother? While media bigmouths are shut on Biden’s brother, son, family who’ve been accused of fingers made of Elmer’s glue? Like I say, just asking . . . ANOTHER thing. For 11 Decembers I’ve done a Blessing of the Animals at 60th & Park’s Christ Church with a rabbi for Jewish dogs and Cardinal Dolan blessing our Christian pets. Each year it’s been 750 owners with our loved cats, guinea pigs, turtles, fish in a bowl, birds, rescues, police dogs, etc. Can’t this year due to the coronavirus. My apologies. And my tears.

Unclaimed

Dec. 6, 12:26 p.m. PST, US District Court Judge Otis DWright II in Central District of California dismissed all federal claims against Harvey Weinstein plus the state law claims.

Case name: Rose McGowan v. Harvey Weinstein et al.

Case number: 2:19-cv-09105-ODW

Doc. No.: 101

Text: Pursuant to the Courts. Nov. 29, Minute Order 100, Plaintiff had until Dec. 2 to file electronically or to file a supplemental brief. Plaintiff has not filed any in response to the Courts Order. Accordingly, Plaintiff has conceded the two points the Court gave her opportunity to argue. The Court concludes Plaintiff is unable to sufficiently plead a RICO claim, meaning further amendment would be futile. Accordingly, the Court dismisses Plaintiff’s claim on the merits and with prejudice as against all Defendants and dismisses the action without prejudice.

Prince pleas

Friends reaching out to say Prince Albert of Monaco needs our compassion: “He’s doing the best to preserve his mother’s legacy and protect his family in the aftermath of Princess Charlene’s medical roller coaster of a year. He has assumed many of her royal duties, especially her children’s foundation, while she has been regaining strength. He says she needs recovery. He begs the press to leave her alone.”

Even though we are a busy city, people in NYC basically keep to themselves. If it weren’t for the muggings there might be no personal contact at all.

Only in New York, kids, only in New York.
