Ben Simmons apparently put a ring on it.
Multiple reports indicate that Simmons, 25, popped the question to Maya Jama, a UK TV host, during the holidays and that she said yes.
Simmons is said to have proposed over Christmas, according to The Sun, but has largely kept news of the engagement a secret. A source told the publication the couple “decided to keep the news low-key and tell only those closest to them.”
“Ben adores Maya and has fallen head over heels for her. He picked up the ring on Jewelers’ Row in the diamond district of Philadelphia the day before he proposed,” the insider also said.
“He chose the ring himself and felt he knew exactly what she would want. Maya said yes and they’re both thrilled.”
Recent news of Simmons’ engagement follows a report from Awesemo.com, which spotted the Easter egg that Simmons’ tattoo artist had referred to Simmons and Jama as engaged on Instagram. The post was quickly deleted.
The couple began dating last May and was spotted together at Wimbledon in July.
“News is going to get out eventually, but they’re keen to keep it under wraps until the new year. Ben fell for Maya almost immediately and was absolutely taken by her sheer beauty,” the source continued.
“He tells friends he loves the fact that she has her own career and he’s smitten by her British accent.”
Jama, 27, is a presenter of the BBC’s “Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star,” and also hosts Simon Cowell’s “Walk the Line” music competition reality show.
Simmons has not played for the Sixers this season as he has reportedly wishes to be traded out of Philadelphia. As a war of leaks back and forth ensued, Simmons’ agent Rich Paul accused the Sixers of furthering his client’s mental health issues.
Prior to his engagement, Simmons dated model Kendall Jenner.
