Biden to bash GOP in prime-time address from Philadelphia this week

President Joe Biden will use his bully pulpit to push Democratic messaging on the battle for the “Soul of the Nation” during a prime-time address later this week ahead of the midterm elections.

Biden is scheduled to deliver the GOP-bashing speech outside the Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia on Thursday, the White House said.

His address will primarily focus on how “rights and freedoms are still under attack” across the US and how America’s global standing is at risk, a White House official told NBC News.

“He will make clear who is fighting for those rights, fighting for those freedoms, and fighting for our democracy,” the official said, adding that Biden will also tout what he sees as progress under his administration within the last two years.

The president’s visit to his native Pennsylvania for the prime-time speech will be his third visit to the battleground state in a week.

Biden, who has been ramping up travel ahead of November’s midterm elections, is set to make a speech on crime and gun safety in Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday. He will also attend a Labor Day parade in Pittsburgh next Monday.

His scheduled prime-time address will come exactly a week after he slammed MAGA philosophy as “semi-fascism” at a DNC rally in Maryland.

“We’re seeing now either the beginning or the death knell of an extreme MAGA agenda,” Biden told the crowd at a high school in Rockville.

“It’s not just Trump … It’s almost semi-fascism.”

Biden used the rally to urge Americans to turn out to the polls in November to fight off “extreme” Trump supporters.
