GM Billy Eppler is going to have to get creative to save the Mets bullpen.
First, he needs to do the obvious and that’s to DFA Stephen Nogosek.
He’s been one of the worst relievers in baseball.
The Mets likely have to go internal for help right now with trades unlikely this early in the season.
Whatever it is, they need arms for a middle relief that continues to doom this team.

- BULLPEN DEBACLES: Mets lose two of three to another last place team. The bullpen continues to be a major issue for this team. Every time they rally and tie the game or take the lead, the middle relief implodes.The Mets have to find a better option than Stephen Nogosek. Letting Trevor Williams and Seth Lugo go has really hurt the bullpen. What are some internal options in Triple-A?
- ROTATION CONCERNS: Tylor Megill gets rocked again. That’s back-to-back bad outings where he gave up a ton of hits.
- MAURICIO TIME: It’s time the Mets call up Ronny Mauricio. Tommy Pham likely saved himself on Sunday with a monster game. The Mets have to cut ties with Daniel Vogelbach. He does not do enough and is only a DH. Mauricio can at least play second or third base or DH and has some speed.
- ALVAREZ HAS ARRIVED: Francisco Alvarez looks like one of the best catchers in baseball. He is tearing the cover off the ball. He’s played really good defense. It’s tremendous how much he has improved since the start of May. The Mets will be in a tough position with Omar Narvaez back.
- FIGGIE’S FABLES: Figgie tells the story of a time when he was in the bullpen in Colorado and umpires were accusing their coach of sign stealing from center field.
