‘Everwood’ actor Treat Williams dead at 71 after motorcycle crash in Vermont

Actor Treat Williams, who starred in the TV series “Everwood,’ was killed in a motorcycle crash in Vermont on Monday, according to a report. He was 71.

Williams was riding his motorcycle on Route 30 near Dorset when he was struck by a car around 5 p.m., People reported, citing his agent and local authorities.

“I’m just devastated,” agent Barry McPherson told the outlet. “He was the nicest guy. He was so talented.”

“He was an actor’s actor. Filmmakers loved him. He’s been the heart of Hollywood since the late 1970s,” McPherson said. “He was really proud of his performance this year. He’s been so happy with the work that I got him. He’s had a balanced career.”

Dorset fire chief Jacob Gribble told People that the car driver was making a turn and didn’t see the motorcycle before the collision.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, the fire chief said.

Williams rose to fame when he played George Berger in the 1979 film “Hair,” getting nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his role.

He also clinched two Sag Award nominations for playing Dr. Andrew Brown in the WB television series “Everwood,” which lasted four seasons.

Williams’ on-screen acting career began in 1975 when he performed in “Deadly Hero.” He racked up more than 120 credits to his name throughout his acting career, according to his IMDb profile.

Hours before his death was announced, videos and photos were posted from Williams’ social media accounts. Fans then rushed to leave comments of condolences after the tragic news began to spread.

“There is no better smell than new mown hay,” he wrote in one Instagram caption with a photo of freshly cut grass on a vast Vermont property.

Williams’ sudden death comes after fellow “Everwood” star actor John Beasley died last month at the age of 79.
