Dalvin Cook is looking for a ‘great vibe’ with his Jets free-agency visit

Dalvin Cook flew to New York for a visit with the Jets this weekend, and if he gets his way, he’ll keep taking flight.

The free agent running back, 27, will meet with Gang Green brass to determine if there’s a fit for the four-time 1,100-yard rusher — though Cook already knows what he’ll be looking for in his trip to Florham Park.

“Just a great vibe, man,” he said Friday on “Good Morning Football.”

“Just getting around people that want to love on Dalvin Cook, that want to share that value that I want. And just trying to get around guys that want to win. I want to bring something different to the table and that’s being Dalvin Cook.”

Jets coach Robert Saleh gave an early look at what the vibe might be ahead of their meeting, gushing about Cook to reporters on Thursday.

“We’ll never say no to a great player if the opportunity presents itself in the right way,” Saleh said. “I’m excited about him and his visit. It’s really just being able to have a conversation with him, get hands on him. I know he’s got some things medically that would have to check out. Again, excited about his visit and a chance to sit down and talk with him.”

There’s plenty to talk about: Cook scored eight rushing touchdowns and added two receiving scores last season before being cut by the Vikings — the team that selected him out of Florida State in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

A fit with the Jets could be tricky, with Breece Hall set to reclaim the lead running back job after his rookie season ended early due to an ACL injury, not to mention Cook reportedly seeking $8-10 million per year and comes with some legal baggage.

When Hall will be ready to return remains unclear.

Still, the revamped franchise has caught Cook’s eye, especially with the addition of Aaron Rodgers — his former Packers rival — under center.

“It’s a unique situation because I think they’re building something special over there,” Cook said. “When you look at it, you always want to be around a great QB. You want to be around somebody you can pick his brain, just learn from. A-Rod is a four-time MVP, so just being around a guy like that, you can learn a lot more and develop as a player. That’s what I’m looking to do.”

In seeking a fresh start following his Minnesota uncoupling, Cook is also reportedly planning to meet with the Patriots and has drawn interest from the Dolphins.

It’s the Jets, though, who are on his mind entering the weekend — telling the “GMFB” crew he thinks the odds are good he could be getting fitted for a Gang Green jersey by the end of it.

“I think they’re pretty high,” he said. “I think we’re in a position with a team that’s building something special, and I want to be a part of something special… I wanna add to whatever they’ve got going on. I think the possibility is high right now of getting things done.”
