Bill Belichick doesn’t give any Ezekiel Elliott hints after free agent visits Patriots

Ezekiel Elliott visited the New England Patriots and left without signing a contract, and the organization has remained mum on the day the veteran running back spent with the team.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick spoke with reporters at Gillette Stadium on Sunday but refused to give any insight into Elliott’s visit with the team.

“I’m going to pass (on commenting) on the guys that aren’t on our team,” Belichick said, according to MassLive

Still, as they say, no news could be good news for the Patriots in their pursuit of Elliott.

The 28-year-old was spotted out to eat in Boston with members of the Patriots on Saturday night, including quarterback Mac Jones, and ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the meeting between New England and Elliott went well.

“I’m told the meeting went really well,” Fowler reported on Sunday, according to MassLive. “He’s in good shape, showed up for the team, had some dinner with some players. This is an option for the Patriots. I’m told there is some love for Zeke Elliott in that building, it’s just a contract situation. He’s wanted a high asking price this summer. With the running back climate the way it is, it’s tough to get that money.”

As of now, Elliott’s terms on the open market are unknown.

This year marks the first time that he will play for a team other than the Dallas Cowboys in his career, which began when they drafted him No. 4 overall in 2014.

So far, the Patriots have been the only team that he has visited since being released by the Cowboys in March

The back is coming off a career-low 876 yards last season for 12 touchdowns, but would still help boost the Patriots’ running game.

Elliott has four 1,000-plus-yard seasons over the course of his seven years in the NFL.
