Mercedes driver arrested after fleeing NYC crash that left teen killed, 4 others injured

An 18-year-old woman was killed and four others hurt in an early Friday two-car crash in Brooklyn — which ended with the arrest of a fleeing Mercedes driver, cops said. 

A Honda sedan and Mercedes-Benz sedan collided outside the Trader Joe’s at Court Street and Atlantic Avenue in Cobble Hill just before 3:30 a.m., police said.

The Mercedes driver, a 25-year-old man, got out of the car and ran off after the smash-up — but responding police caught up to him and he was cuffed nearby, police said.

The 18-year-old, who was riding in the Honda, was taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. 

The other occupants of the Honda — a 32-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man — were taken to the same hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, cops said. 

A 24-year-old woman who was riding in the Mercedes was also hospitalized with minor injuries.

Charges are pending against the Mercedes driver, authorities said. 

The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is working to determine the cause of the crash, and the directions the vehicles were heading.
