Shirtless Alabama man attempts to tackle notorious loose goat in hilarious video

He’s a real-life Billy The Kid.

A hilarious video shows the moment a shirtless Alabama man leaped out of his vehicle in an attempt to capture an infamous runaway goat by leaping on top of the feisty animal.

An entire Alabama community came together this summer to capture the goat affectionately named “Billy,” who always seemed to narrowly escape capture.

Ward Webb, 26, was driving a golf cart down a street in Birmingham on July 20 when he made a beeline toward the white goat as it sprinted across the front lawn of a home.

Without any hesitation, Webb dove straight toward Billy with his arms outstretched, but missed the animal by mere inches.

Webb scrambled to his feet and started to chase after Billy before realizing the escape artist already had a substantial lead.

“I’m going to get his ass,” Webb — with his pants marked in grass stains — said as he hopped back in the cart and began driving in reverse.

Webb is said to have caught Billy off-camera moments later with the help of other neighborhood men, but the goat proved too slippery — he made another escape and spent another three days on the lam before he was finally brought home to his owners.

Webb’s girlfriend, Hannah Perkinson, said the “good ol’ country boy” was letting his dogs out when he saw Billy, who had become a local celebrity since jumping out of his owner’s pick-up three days earlier in the neighboring city of Mountain Brook.

“I saw about the loose goat on the news but we didn’t plan on catching it,” Perkinson, who filmed the near-capture, said. “But he jumped the fence again that same day.”

Community members in both Mountain Brook and Birmingham became invested in Billy’s escape.

“Free Billy” T-shirt and sticker designs were launched during his time on the lam and some residents took to tracking his sightings.

The Mountain Brook police department also asked for tips on sightings after receiving numerous reports of a rouge goat.

Billy was eventually captured following an hours-long pursuit on a Jewish community group campus. Facebook

After six days on the loose, Billy was finally corralled by several members of a local Jewish community group after an hours-long pursuit on their Levite JCC campus.

“He truly is the greatest of all time. Billy is now back in the hands of his owner,” the group said.
