Celebrity designer’s Norse-inspired LA mansion lists for $22.9M

This sprawling compound in one of Los Angeles’s poshest areas is intended to offer the best of both Scandinavian and Japanese style, an aesthetic colloquially known as “Japandi.”

The palatial estate, named Odin, is located within the star-studded Encino neighborhood’s Royal Oaks enclave, and was created by Jae Omar Design’s founder and namesake interior designer, who counts Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner, DJ Zedd and LA Rams head coach Sean McVay among past buyers of his creations.

“The symbol of Odin, and all that it represents as the Norse God of strength and wisdom, underpins the materials and methods found throughout,” said Omar of the residence, which is currently listed for $22.9 million with Sally Forster Jones of Compass and The Altman Brothers of Douglas Elliman.

Odin, he added, is defined by materials including aromatic cedar, knotty oak and rustic stones, which were chosen specifically to represent the “Scandinavian region and its history.”

Core elements include angled wooden room dividers, floating staircases, stone-front fireplaces and “meditative” water features.

In all, the property measures in at 40,075 square feet, of which 18,000 square feet are the actual residence.

The main home includes eight bedrooms, 11 full bathrooms and one half bathroom, while a separate guest house offers an additional bedroom and a full bathroom.
