Rachel Morin’s family throws Hail Mary pass across the country to try to drum up leads in slaying: ‘Why my daughter?’

The mother of a Maryland mom of five found slain on a hiking path three months ago says cops have virtually no leads in the baffling case — so she’s throwing a Hail Mary pass all the way across the country to try to stir up information.

Patty Morin, whose 37-year-old daughter Rachel Morin was found dead on a hiking trail in Bel Air, Md., told Fox News Digital that the family is distributing more than 10,000 English-Spanish fliers in Los Angeles appealing for information — since DNA from the murder scene has matched a man tied to a sex assault there.

“I am praying that someone, maybe someone who has had a similar experience, will have compassion and help in identifying this person,” Patty told the outlet of the potential suspect.

“We are literally sitting in limbo and can’t move because we have no answers, no direction,” the mom said.

Rachel was found dead on the Ma & Pa Heritage Trail in the Maryland community on Aug. 6, fewer than 24 hours after her boyfriend reported her missing.

DNA from the scene was later matched to a man tied to the home invasion and assault of a young girl in Los Angeles in March. The man’s identity is not known.

Although authorities did not release the address of the Los Angeles attack, lawyers representing Morin’s family claim they have pinpointed the exact location by comparing surveillance footage of the suspect with satellite maps, Fox News Digital explained.

The bilingual fliers will target this area and are expected to reach about 58,000 people.

“We haven’t seen any viable leads coming out of the sheriff’s department, so we’re trying to create our own set of leads any way we possibly can,” family lawyer Randolph Rice told the outlet.

A criminal profiler told the legal team that the suspect – who has previously been described as a male in his 20s weighing about 160 pounds and 5 feet tall — likely had ties to the Los Angeles area, Rice said.

Rechel Morin’s remains were discovered fewer than 24 hours after she went missing on the Ma & Pa Heritage Trail in Maryland. MEGA

Patty Morin said of her slain daughter, “She filled so much of our lives with laughter and light.

“Even when she was having a bad day, she still shined. There is just such an empty void.”

The dead fitness buff’s children are struggling the most, the mom said.

“As the holidays approach, I fear there will be this deafening silence that will overshadow our get-togethers,” Patty said.

DNA at the scene linked Morin’s killing to a suspect in the home invasion and assault on a young girl in Los Angeles about five months earlier.

“They just want their mom back and their lives to be normal, and for some of the older ones, they know it will never be.

“We don’t know why he committed such a gruesome murder. Why my daughter?” she asked of the killer.

“That means that no one is safe until he is caught and incarcerated for life.”
