Taylor Swift talks Travis Kelce relationship for first time as she’s named Time’s Person of the Year
Taylor Swift has spoken.
The superstar singer addressed her relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for the first time with Time after being recognized as its 2023 Person of the Year — her first sit-down interview in four years.
“We are just two people supporting each other doing what we love,” Swift said when asked about the couple’s whirlwind romance being so public.
The “Cruel Summer” singer, 33, laughed when asked about being in the spotlight with Kelce, 34, according to Time’s editor-in-chief Sam Jacobs.
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” Swift said.
“The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
The couple was first linked in September and went public with their relationship the next month.
Swift and Kelce stepped out together for the first time publicly the next month, when they were photographed holding hands in New York City.

Swift is the first entertainer to receive a solo designation in the 96 years that Time has named a Person of the Year.
The Swift-Kelce craze has dominated sports and pop culture since the two-time NFL champ revealed on his “New Heights” podcast that he tried to shoot his shot with the singer at her concert in Kansas City over the summer.
“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she said. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.
“By the time I went to that first game (Sept. 24), we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
Swift appears to be fitting in well with the NFL crowd and the Chiefs’ WAGs.
She has attended five Chiefs games this season, where she was shown across multiple television networks as cameras focused on her cheering in a private suite with Kelce’s parents, Donna and Ed, as well as Brittany Mahomes, who’s married to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
“I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in,” she said. “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when then camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.”
Swift was featured on-air 17 times during the Chiefs-Jets game on Oct. 1, according to Front Office Sports.
The blonde beauty is “sensitive” to the spotlight when she’s present at Kelce’s games, according to Time.
“I’m just there to support Travis,” she said. “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
Swift playfully admitted that she hopped on the football bandwagon a bit late in her life.
“Football is awesome, it turns out,” she said. “I’ve been missing out my whole life.”
The singer attended Sunday’s game against the Packers with Brittany, as well as Lyndsay Bell, the wife of Chiefs tight end Blake Bell,
Swift also hosted some of the Chiefs’ WAGs at her Tribeca apartment in New York City while Kansas City played the Miami Dolphins in the NFL International game in Germany last month.
The singer has been spending time in Kansas City recently as she is currently on a break from her “Eras Tour.”
The Time Person of the Year 2023 issue will hit newsstands Dec. 15, two days after Swift’s 34th birthday.
