The 18-year-old man fatally stabbed in Manhattan’s Flatiron District has been identified as Bronx resident Denzel Bimpey, police said Saturday.
The deadly incident unfolded around 10:40 p.m. Friday on the corner of East 26th Street and Park Avenue South, cops said.
The teen was stabbed multiple times in his chest, shoulder and arm and rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he later died, authorities said.
Bimpey’s attacker ran off, cops said.
A “person of interest’ was taken into custody, but has not been charged, an NYPD spokesman said.
The attack came amid an increase in stabbings citywide this year. NYPD data shows the number of stabbings and slashings rose 6% across the five boroughs from last year, to nearly 5,000.
