Kate Middleton admitted to hospital for abdominal surgery, cancels all planned royal engagements until Easter

Kate Middleton has been admitted to the hospital for a “planned abdominal surgery,” a statement from Kensington Palace read on Wednesday.

The royal family shared the news on social media, revealing that the Princess of Wales, 42, went to the London Clinic on Tuesday.

While the surgery was “successful,” she will remain in the hospital for 10 to 14 days before “returning home to continue her recovery.”

However, she is “unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”

The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate,” the memo went on.

“She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible.”

They added that they hope the public respects “her wish that her personal medical information remain private.”

The palace then noted that they will “only provide updates” on Middleton’s progress “when there is significant new information to share.”

The Duchess of Cambridge “wishes to apologize to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements.”

“She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible,” the statement concluded.

Fans sent well wishes to Middleton in the comments, giving her support as she recovers.

One fan penned: “Prayers to you and your beautiful family. We are sending you thoughts of love and healing!”

“Wishing her all the best for surgery and a speedy recovery too xx cuddles are the best medicine, sending peace, rest and love to all the family,” one added.

Someone else wrote: “Prayers for a full and speedy recovery for Princess Catherine; for peace and comfort and strength. Prayers as well for Prince William and the children.”

A source told The Post on Wednesday that her husband, Prince William, is expected to postpone a number of his royal engagements to be with his family during his wife’s recovery.

The insider explained that palace aides are set to provide a revised schedule for the heir to the throne in due course.

The family is not expected to travel internationally in the coming month.

The couple was initially slated to take their first overseas trip of 2024 in the coming weeks to meet troops.

The medical problem was not cancerous and she will recover at her home in Windsor.

Procedures may be needed to alleviate problems such as infection, tumors, hernia repair or bowel disease.

Kate and her family were last seen together publicly at Christmas Day service at Sandringham last month.

At the time, she did the walkabout with William, 41, and their children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.
