‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ could be rebooted, according to producer Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton is still working that 9 to 5.

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” could be getting a reboot sometime in the future, according to the singer.

“They’re still working on that,” Parton, 78, recently told Business Insider. “They’re thinking about bringing it back and revamping it.”

The Grammy winner was an uncredited producer on the hit supernatural series through her production company, Sandollar Productions.

The Joss Whedon-created show debuted in 1997 and ran for seven seasons on the WB/UPN.

Sarah Michelle Gellar led the cast as Buffy Summers, who, well … slayed vampires and other paranormal creatures that attacked her and her friends.

The “Steel Magnolias” actress was “very involved” in the show, but was unable to visit the LA set as she lived in Nashville.

“A lot of my work was done just conversing back and forth with the business people there,” she explained.

“I have to give more people more credit on ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ than me. A lot of people did so much sweat on that,” she added. “That little show did great.”

Last year, Gellar, 46, confirmed Parton’s involvement on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

“We never saw her. We’d get Christmas gifts in the beginning that would have her name, and I would think, ‘She doesn’t know who I am,’” Gellar recalled.

“Then one day, someone asked her about it, and she complimented the show and my performance,” she continued. “And I was like, ‘Oh, I can die now. Dolly Parton knows who I am and thinks I’m good.’”

Parton and the late Sandy Gallin co-founded Sandollar Productions in 1986. The organization produced “Buffy” and the “Angel” spinoff series, as well as the original 1992 film version of “Buffy.”

The “Cruel Intentions” star, however, isn’t a fan of her cult TV series being rebooted.

“I am very proud of the show that we created and it doesn’t need to be done,” she told SFX magazine via Movieweb in January 2023. “We wrapped that up.”

“I am all for them continuing the story, because there’s the story of female empowerment,” she continued. “I love the way the show was left: ‘Every girl who has the power can have the power.’ It’s set up perfectly for someone else to have the power.”

“But like I said, the metaphors of ‘Buffy’ were the horrors of adolescence. I think I look young, but I am not an adolescent.”

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” also starred Alyson Hannigan, James Marsters, David Boreanaz, Charisma Carpenter, Nicholas Brendon, Anthony Head, Seth Green, Amber Benson, Michelle Trachtenberg and Kristine Sutherland.
