Kirk Cousins stuns college class with surprise appearance — and earns them extra credit

Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins completely surprised a college class Friday — and helped earn some students extra credit in the process.

The four-time Pro Bowler, who tore his Achilles in the fourth quarter of a Week 8 game against the Packers, has been rehabbing his injury at Hope College in Holland, Michigan, the same town where he starred in high school.

Cousins’ recent physical therapy sessions led him to connect with two students at Hope, and they asked for him to stop by their sports communication class, and Cousins, 35, graciously accepted.

The visit to Professor Patrick Gentile’s class was captured by the school in a post on X.

“Thanks for stopping by, @KirkCousins8!” Hope College posted. “Today, our Sports Communication class with Professor Patrick Gentile had an unexpected guest visit their classroom while in town. #KirkCousins”

Cousins quoted the post and had his own reply, telling the story of how it all went down.

“Two students stopped me after my PT session @ Hope…told me they’d get extra credit if I showed up to class so I had to stop by. Professor Gentile, thanks for having me, but now I’m holding you to that extra credit!” Cousins wrote.

Cousins is set to hit free agency, and his future with the Vikings remains unclear.

Cousins, who turns 36 in August, recently expressed an interest to return to Minnesota next season.

“We’ve been in it together a lot, through a lot of ups and downs,” he said, per the team’s website, “and so I know we’d all be able to do it again and get back together again and try to make another run.”
