Patrick Mahomes offers little on dad’s DWI arrest ahead of Super Bowl 2024: ‘He’s doing good’

Patrick Mahomes offered few thoughts Monday night regarding his father Patrick Mahomes Sr.’s arrest in Texas for driving while intoxicated.

“He’s doing good,” Mahomes said during Super Bowl 2024 Opening Night.

“Don’t really want to get into it too much, but he’s doing good for whatever the situation is.”

He added: “It’s a family matter, so I’ll keep it to the family. That’s really all I’ll say at this point.”

Mahomes Sr., an 11-year MLB pitcher who pitched for the Mets during the 1999 and 2000 seasons, was arrested last Saturday after driving with an open 16-ounce Coors beer in his car, and told police he “had a few beers while watching a game at a local bar,” according to an affidavit form the Smith County Sheriff’s Office.

He was driving slower than other cars at the time, and a registration check on his car showed that his registration had expired in 2022, according to the police.

It marked his third DWI and a third conviction carries up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, according to Texas law.

“Based on the totality of the circumstances,” the officer who arrested Mahomes Sr. wrote in their report, while citing probable cause, “I believed Patrick was impaired to a perceptible degree while operating a motor vehicle in a public place.”

Despite the arrest, the elder Mahomes can still attend Super Bowl 2024 in Las Vegas since a travel ban was not instituted as part of his bond conditions, per documents and reports obtained by The Post.

The younger Mahomes started his Super Bowl week Monday night by discussing his “dad bod” and detailing his pursuit of Tom Brady’s seven championships.

The Chiefs are looking for back-to-back titles and their second Super Bowl win over the 49ers in five years.
