Shocking video shows pregnant woman attacked by pit bull in front of her kids

DISTRESSING WARNING

Dramatic video captured the moment an eight-months-pregnant Dallas woman was attacked by a pit bull in front of her two terrified, young children.

Reyna Gutierrez and her kids were arriving home at the Tides at Highland Meadows apartment complex on Amanda Lane about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday when the pooch pounced on her, WFAA reported.

“I couldn’t do anything,” she told the outlet in Spanish after being taken by surprise by the animal. “I tried to cover myself with my son’s backpack.”

The family’s home surveillance footage shows the dog attacking Gutierrez while her 6-year-old daughter jumps onto the hood of a car and her 9-year-old son runs toward the house.

A good Samaritan runs over to help but the dog also attacks him.

The video then shows a man who appears to be the pit bull’s owner putting it on a leash.

Gutierrez’s husband, Erik Rojas, said that neighbors told him the owner took the dog away when cops arrived, NBC DFW reported.

Gutierrez was treated at a hospital for bites on both arms, police told the outlet. She said she was hospitalized for 24 hours so her unborn baby could be monitored.

Gutierrez told WFAA on Wednesday that she is still afraid to venture outside after the horrifying attack.

“If it wasn’t me, what if it would’ve been one of the kids? I can’t bear watching the video. I feel scared,” she said, adding that the man who ran to her aid suffered stomach injuries.

Dallas Animal Services workers were at the complex Wednesday and knocked on several doors in search of the dog’s owner, according to the outlet.

Neighbors said the owner lives in the area but that they don’t know who he is.

No arrests have been made amid the ongoing investigation.

“I just want people to be responsible,” Gutierrez told WFAA. “How could you take your dog out without a leash knowing it’s aggressive?”
