Saquon Barkley next team odds: Giants remain favorites to retain star running back

Rumblings around Giants running back Saquon Barkley are heating up.

But oddsmakers appear to think the two-time Pro Bowler is staying put in the Meadowlands.

The 27-year-old Barkley is set to enter free agency in March, but the Giants will have first say before that can happen.

After getting franchise-tagged last summer, Barkley could get hit with it again if the two sides can’t come to a long-term deal or if the team can’t find a trade suitor.

That is why the Giants remain a heavy favorite (-150) to have Barkley on their roster come Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season, according to oddsmakers at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Several teams across the league could use a ball carrier like Barkley, though.

The up-and-coming Texans (+275) have the next-best to land Barkley should the Giants move on, and the Chargers sit right behind with the third-best odds at +400.

The Bears (+1600) and Eagles (+1800) are also in the mix.

No other team has odds better than 22/1.

Barkley is entering the seventh season of an NFL career mired by injuries.

Since his Pro Bowl and Offensive Rookie of the Year winning 2018 season, Barkley has played in at least 16 games just once.

Barkley has missed just three games over the last two seasons, though, rushing for 2,274 yards in 30 regular season games in 2022 and 2023 combined.

Last year, Barkley made $10.1 million under the franchise tag.

If he’s tagged again, he would get a 20 percent increase on that number, a $2 million increase to around $12 million for the 2024 season.
