Big money is pouring in on the Dodgers to follow through on their sky-high expectations this season.
A bettor at Caesars Sportsbook dropped $80,000 on the Shohei Ohtani-led Dodgers to win the National League West.
But with such a rosy outlook in LA, the payout isn’t anywhere near the buy-in.
The Dodgers are -400 at Caesars to win the division, meaning the bettor would win just $20,000 off their wager if Los Angeles can come out on top in the NL West.
It may seem like a risky bet for a payout at that number, but the Dodgers are about as safe as any team heading into the 2024 MLB season.
The Dodgers have won the division in 10 of the past 11 seasons, falling short only in 2021 after finishing one game behind the 107-win San Francisco Giants.
Last season, they won 100 games, clearing the second-place Arizona Diamondbacks by 16 games for the division win.
And, of course, the Dodgers went out and added perhaps the two biggest names on the free agent market this winter in Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
It’s been 25 years since a team has had a preseason outlook as optimistic as Vegas oddsmakers have for the Dodgers this season.
The Dodgers preseason over/under total is currently sitting at 103.5 wins, which would be the highest since the 1999 Yankees, the eventual World Series champions who were coming off a 114-win season, according to SportsOddsHistory.com.

The D-backs are projected for the second-most wins in the division with an over/under total of 84.5 wins.
Los Angeles is also, of course, a massive favorite to win the 2024 World Series.
Oddsmakers at FanDuel Sportsbook have the Dodgers at +320 to win it all this season, which would be the best preseason odds since the 2007 Yankees, who were +300 on Opening Day at BetMGM.
