2024 NFL Draft odds: Where J.J. McCarthy stands to be selected

Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is one of the most fascinating players to watch ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The national title-winning quarterback is one of the major mysteries of this year’s draft, with speculation about just how high he may be selected.

There’s currently a three-way tie among the Atlanta Falcons (pick eight), Minnesota Vikings (pick 11) and Denver Broncos (pick 12) to be the team that drafts him, each owning +500 odds at FanDuel.

The uncertainty across the betting landscape has massive implications for all of those teams, as the Vikings and Falcons are vying for a returning Kirk Cousins and trade candidate Justin Fields.

There is at least some disagreement across the betting market about what kind of involvement the Falcons will really have with McCarthy, as DraftKings and Bet365 have the Falcons further down the odds board at +950 and 10/1, respectively.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton reportedly is enamored with the Michigan star.

There is no over/under draft pick number for McCarthy at this point.

DraftKings has the Falcons as -400 favorites to land Fields at the time of writing, while the Vikings are -200 to retain Cousins as their starter. So, the uncertainty in the odds is all over the place for McCarthy.

But, it is anyone’s guess what will truly happen to McCarthy come draft night.

In 2023, Will Levis sat in a similarly precarious spot as a draft prospect.

His over/under sat at 6.5 prior to draft night, with a wild stream of money coming in on him to go No. 1 overall.

Levis wound up falling catastrophically to the second round, where he went to the Titans.

McCarthy might not have a similar fate as Levis, but the odds seem to be trending in a direction similar to what Levis dealt with just 11 months ago.
