Bombs away!

‘D’ fall guys

A pop-up fell in shallow left field between third baseman DJ LeMahieu and shortstop Oswaldo Cabrera. LeMahieu appeared to be under it before turning and looking at Cabrera as both watched it fall between them.

Caught my eye

Ex-Met Daniel Vogelbach took Gerrit Cole deep in the first inning, which came with a bat flip. Cole appeared to be chuckling as Vogelbach rounded the bases.

“What’s the day? Are we still in February? March 1?” Cole said later. “Yeah, he enjoyed that homer.” Asked if he would remember that in the regular season, Cole grinned, “I don’t forget a lot of things.”

Saturday’s schedule

Marcus Stroman will make his second start of the spring as the Yankees get their first look at the Orioles at 1:05 p.m. in Sarasota.
