Mets’ Brett Baty belts first homer of the spring

Noteworthy items during the Mets’ Grapefruit League action Friday:

Going Baty

Brett Baty, who is battling Mark Vientos for the Mets’ third-base job, drilled a Roddery Muñoz slider 383 feet to right for his first home run of the spring in his fifth game.

“Felt really good,” Baty said. “Whenever you get one on the barrel like that, honestly it’s hard to explain, but it just feels like nothing.”

Brett Baty, batting during a game against the Nationals last week, belted a home run in the Mets' 4-1 loss to the Marlins.

Sean wrong

Sean Manaea allowed three runs — all in his first frame — on seven hits in 2 ²/₃ innings.

The lefty, who led with the fastball and worked in changeups, sliders and sweepers, said he was working on everything and not concerned.

“The results are what they are,” Manaea said, “but there’s also some positives.”

Caught my eye

A nice sliding catch from speedy fourth outfielder Tyrone Taylor took a hit away from Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the fifth inning.

Sunday’s schedule

Adrian Houser is expected to get the start when the Mets host the Astros at 1:10 p.m. in Port St. Lucie.
