Jason Kelce’s possible Taylor Swift references caused retirement speech frenzy

The Swifties will remember this moment.

When Jason Kelce announced his NFL retirement on Monday after 13 seasons with the Eagles, fans of Taylor Swift couldn’t help but speculate if the older brother of the pop star’s boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, dropped the names of her song in his speech.

“I found my career being fulfilled in the City of Brotherly Love, I knew that relationship all too well,” an emotional Kelce, 36, said during his speech.

Swifties then took to social media to call out the apparent reference to Swift’s 2012 song, “All Too Well.”

“Jason Kelce just quoted ‘All too well’ in his retirement speech. Love it so much,” one X user posted.

Another wrote, “Jaisn [sic] made a all too well reference im not ok.”

The nods didn’t stop there, with Kelce stating, “If you go above and beyond for this city, you will be rewarded above your wildest dreams.”

Swift’s song “Wildest Dreams” is featured on her 2014 album, “1989,” which was re-released in October as “1989 (Taylor’s Version).”

“Not Jason Kelce adding ‘all too well’ and ‘wildest dreams’ to his retirement speech he loves us,” a separate X user wrote Monday.

One fan exclaimed, “WILDEST DREAMS!!? Jason you’re giving the swifties a heart attack. We love you so much!! Enjoy retirement.”

A sixth-round pick out of Cincinnati in 2011, Kelce spent his entire NFL career with the Eagles, with whom he won the Super Bowl in February 2018.

Although the Eagles came up short in the playoffs this year — an embarrassing 32-9 loss to the Buccaneers in January’s wild-card round — Kelce enjoyed Travis’ postseason run with the Chiefs.

He and wife Kylie watched the Chiefs’ Super Bowl 2024 win last month from an Allegiant Stadium suite in Las Vegas with Swift, 34.

Travis, now a three-time Super Bowl champion, attended Kelce’s press conference Monday in Philadelphia, where he held back tears in the front row with his parents, Donna and Ed Kelce, and sister-in-law Kylie.

It’s unclear if Travis will head to Singapore later this week as Swift continues the international leg of her blockbuster Eras Tour.

The couple has been dating since last summer.
