Jayden Daniels fires back at Patriots NFL Draft rumors

Former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels made it clear the rumors circulating that his camp doesn’t want him to go to New England are not true.

Daniels fired back at the rumor, which first popped up on Monday by NBC Sports Boston reporter Phil Perry, simply responding to a post on X with a single emoji.

The NBC Sports Boston report suggested that there were questions about how Daniels “would adapt to the playing conditions in New England” and that people in the Heisman-winning QB’s camp would “prefer Daniels doesn’t end up in the Northeast.”

In his post on X, Daniels had responded with an emoji of a cap – the current slang indicating something to be a lie – to football news aggregator JPAFootball.

Daniels is projected to be a top-10 pick in the draft in April and the Patriots, who are in need of a franchise quarterback, hold the No. 3 overall pick.

Denise White, Daniels’ agent, also responded to the rumor on X.

“Your rumors are wrong,” she wrote. “So now we post rumors and not substantiated facts? Jayden’s camp will be happy wherever he lands and is excited for him to be a part of the @nfl. Let’s get it right @jasrifootball and @PhilAPerry. Come to his publicist next time you aren’t sure!”

A number of teams had spoken with Daniels at the NFL combine last week, including the Giants,  Broncos, Raiders, Saints and Commanders, along with the Pats.

Daniels had told the Times-Picayune that he was hoping to just land in a good spot to succeed.

“The best situation is whoever believes in me,” Daniels said. “Obviously someone is going to take a chance on me and say this kid can change our organization, our franchise, be the face of the franchise. So … the main thing is just supporting me. And obviously if they call my name, they believe in supporting me.”
