Victor Wembanyama has Vegas oddsmakers contemplating quadruple-double history

Three quarters of the way through his rookie season, Victor Wembanyama has lived up to the hype.

And now, after weeks of putting up gaudy stats, night-in and night-out, he has oddsmakers wondering: Can he be the next NBA player to register a quadruple-double?

FanDuel Sportsbook has Wembanyama listed at 100-1 to become the first rookie and just the fifth player in NBA history to record a quadruple-double this season.

The French sensation is averaging 20.9 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

But it’s his insane block numbers that have NBA fans debating if he can join the exclusive quadruple-double club.

Wembanyama is averaging 3.4 blocks per game, easily the most in the league.

Over his past eight games, Wemby has upped his average to 5.4 blocks per game, denying at least three shots in each of those contests heading into Tuesday’s game against the Rockets.

Wembanyama registered the first of two triple-doubles this season on Jan. 10 against the Pistons when he put up 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

Less than two weeks later, Wembanyama had a triple-double with 27 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks – and five assists – against Minnesota, becoming the first player to record a triple-double with blocks since Clint Capela in January 2021.

If he can pull it off, Wembanyama would be the first player in 30 years to record a quadruple-double.

Only four players — Nate Thurmond, Alvin Robertson, Hakeem Olajuwon and David Robinson — have accomplished the feat since steals and blocks became an official stat in 1973-74.

Wembanyama has matched the wild expectations placed upon him since being selected No. 1 overall by the Spurs in the 2023 draft.

He is currently a massive favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award and trails only Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert in the Defensive Player of the Year race, according to Vegas oddsmakers.
