Arizona woman falls down well, inexplicably spends night in 15-foot hole before calling for help

There’s a hole lot of mystery surrounding this rescue.

An Arizona woman fell into a well over the weekend — and decided to stay there overnight before calling for help.

The woman tumbled 15 feet down the dry well that was surrounded by a chain-link fence in an open field in Chandler on Sunday night, FOX 10 Phoenix reported.

There was a ladder in the well, which was only a few feet wide, but the unidentified woman was unable to climb out due to her injuries. She had been on the property with another person who stayed with her after she fell.

“We’re not sure why, but she decided to stay in the hole and call us this morning,” Chandler Fire Department Chief Carlos Vargas told the station.

“Really didn’t give us many details on how the incident occurred.”

While the woman never lost consciousness, she suffered leg and hip injuries, officials said. It took about an hour and a half for rescue crews to get her out of the well Monday morning.

She was then taken to a local hospital.

“[She was] able to talk us through the whole operation and that’s when we upgraded the call to a technical rescue incident and put a plan together to make the rescue,” Vargas told Fox 10.

Authorities said there was no fault on the part of the construction company that tried to protect the well.

The Post has reached out to Chandler’s fire and police departments for additional details.
