Casey Anthony wants to become a reality star — but most feel a reality check would be more appropriate.
A TV proposal submitted on behalf of the 37-year-old Florida ‘monster mom’ promises “an intimate window into the daily life of one of the most controversial women in America.”
The show, which would film in Florida, would be based around Anthony’s day-to-day life 13 years after being acquitted of killing her daughter Caylee.
“In each episode, Casey will go about her day — working, socializing, dating. She will share her thoughts and opinions, and will give an intimate look into her world,” the proposal claims.
Anthony would be working with a production company to produce the show, and would be credited as an executive producer, as well as starring in it.
Others who would appear include “members of Casey’s trusted inner circle, many of whom have never spoken out before.”
The show has been shopped around to multiple TV networks — but it’s unclear if any will actually put the show on their schedule.
“I think that’s a losing bet,” one network exec who has seen the proposal tells The Post. “It would get a large audience initially, but what’s really that interesting about her life? Plus the backlash would be huge. Not worth it.”
However, while the exec said their network will pass, they added: “I hope someone else has the balls to buy it. Because I definitely want to watch.”
It’s been more than 15 years since Anthony first entered the public consciousness after the disappearance of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, in 2008. During a nationwide hunt for the little girl, Casey Anthony was arrested after police caught her in several lies.
Six months later, Caylee’s remains were found in a wooded area near the Anthony family home. Her cause of death could not be determined, but Casey was charged with first-degree murder.
Anthony’s 2011 murder trial was a media circus. According to Nielsen Media research, an estimated 40 million Americans watched at least part of the trial — and the verdict was watched by nearly 100 million people worldwide.
The prosecution alleged Anthony, then just 21, got rid of her toddler so that she could party with friends and have sex with her boyfriend. The defense countered that Anthony was a loving mother and that the child had drowned in the family pool.
In the end, Anthony was infamously acquitted of murder charges. She was later convicted of four counts of lying to law enforcement officers and released from prison in July 2011 upon which she immediately went into hiding.
Anthony’s post-jail life hasn’t been without its share of struggles. Dubbed “America’s most hated mom,” by cable TV news she been documented getting into barroom brawls and had a nasty fall out with her parents, George and Cindy.
Anthony has only spoken out twice since her release from prison. In 2017, she gave an interview to the Associated Press, insisting that she didn’t kill her daughter. She also claimed that she didn’t care about her reputation.
“I don’t give a sh– about what anyone thinks about me, I never will,” she told the AP at the time. “I’m OK with myself; I sleep pretty good at night.”
In 2022, she gave her first on-camera interview in the Peacock docuseries “Casey Anthony: Where The Truth Lies”. In the 3-episode show, she placed all blame on her father, George Anthony, hinting he was responsible for the girl’s death.
George Anthony, a former law enforcement officer, has repeatedly denied involvement and has never been charged with any crime relating to Caylee.
While their daughter is preparing to get a reality show off the ground, George and Cindy have filmed their own show where they both submit to a lie detector test in an attempt to dispel some of the claims Casey made in her last TV show.
