Moment Iron Dome intercepts more than a dozen Hezbollah missiles over Israel

Dramatic video shows Israel’s Iron Dome intercepting more than a dozen Hezbollah missiles fired toward the northern part of the country Tuesday.

More than 30 missiles were launched from Lebanon at the Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona, erupting like fireworks in multiple explosions over the city, the Israel Defense Forces said.

The video taken by officials and residents across the city shows the moment the Iron Dome activates and sends a flurry of defensive rockets flying across the sky.

Israeli government spokesperson Eylon Levy touted the Iron Dome’s successful interception on X and said the aerial counterstrike looked “like the Battle of Hogwarts.”

Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system took out 13 of the more than 30 missiles fired from southern Lebanon on Tuesday night.

Israeli officials confirmed that the Iron Dome blew up 13 of the missiles fired at Israel, with the rest falling into open areas, the Jerusalem Post reports. No injuries were reported as a result of the strike.

The IDF said Hezbollah had claimed responsibility for the attack as part of its latest strike in northern Israel as tensions continue to heat up between the Jewish state and the Iran-backed terror group.

The assault on Kiryat Shmona was allegedly in response to an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon on Monday, with the IDF responding in kind by taking out a Hezbollah rocket launching site across the border in the city of Taybeh.

The Israeli military also struck an anti-tank missile site in Aarab El Louaizeh. Both facilities were allegedly used in the attack on Kiryat Shmona, the IDF said.

The hostilities came as Lebanon’s caretaker prime minister Najib Mikati announced that indirect talks to end the fighting along the border will begin next week during Ramadan.

Since Oct. 8, Israel has killed more than 200 Hezbollah fighters in airstrikes in Lebanon, including high-ranking officials, along with an estimated 50 civilians.

Hezbollah missile attacks launched over the border into Israel have killed about a dozen IDF soldiers and seven civilians.

About 100,000 residents from both nations have been displaced over the conflict, according to Israeli and Lebanese officials.
