3 teens dangle their feet from top of 37-story luxury high-rise in terrifying video

Three teen boys have been filmed dangling from the roof of a luxury apartment building in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD.

The stomach-churning footage, obtained by news.com.au, shows the three boys sitting on a ledge at the top of the Admiralty Towers II building on Queen Street, dangling their feet over the edge as pedestrians walk along the riverbank 37 stories below.

The ledge, directly over a balcony of an apartment, is just off to the side of a rooftop common area which features a resident-only pool.

Witness Benjamin Heremaia filmed the incident last Friday afternoon from a room in nearby Queen Street.

“We were shocked to see a group of teenage boys dangling from 30 stories in the air,” he said.

“There didn’t appear to be any safety fencing stopping them from doing so. There was a room full of onlookers who couldn’t believe their eyes.”

One of the boys is wearing a backpack and can be seen leaning forward to look down at the ground.

The other two are seen using their phones as they perch on the ledge.

Admiralty Towers II, built in 1997, is the largest of the three Admiralty complexes and comprises 193 luxury apartments over 37 levels.

The low-rise and high-rise sections have duplicate facilities including a heated indoor pool, spa, sauna and gym.

In 2020, the four-bedroom, three-bathroom penthouse in the building — spanning 410 square meters — sold for $4 million, $600,000 more than it previously changed hands for in 2015.

Recent apartment sales in Admiralty Towers II have ranged from $840,000 [USD 551,329] to $1.8 million [USD 1,181,421], property records show.

Queensland has seen a spate of tragic balcony fall deaths in recent years, including several during Schoolies celebrations on the Gold Coast.

Charlie Scott, 18, from Melbourne died after falling from a Hilton Hotel balcony in Surfers Paradise in 2019.

The year before, Sydney student Hamish Bidgood, 18, fell from the Surf Regency apartments.

And in 2012, Brisbane’s Isabelle Colman, 17, fell from Tower Three of the Chevron Renaissance complex.
