James McAvoy reveals he injured himself holding woman upside down during ‘orgy’

Hollywood actor James McAvoy has confessed that he managed to injure himself while in the middle of an “orgy”.

The British star, who was filming an improvised X-rated scene for his latest movie, Turn Up The Sun!, found himself “decking it” when he fell to the floor and smashed his knee while half naked and surrounded by his “sweaty” and “disrobing” co-stars.

Speaking to Martin Compston and Gordon Smart on the Restless Natives podcast, McAvoy recalled the awkward moment that happened on-set back in February.
“The second last day of filming ended with about nine of us doing an orgy scene.

An improvised f–king orgy scene,” said the star. “It was hardcore dancing, everybody is on drugs, we had all drunk loads of whisky and there was loads of kissing, groping and disrobing.

“There’s this amazing Spanish actor called Almudena Amor and we had to go at it with each other. We had to be funny with it but properly go for it and we were both in the same headspace. So, we get to this improvised orgy and she’s bigger than me, she’s like 5ft 11in.”

McAvoy, who stands at 5ft 7, continued: “At one point I was holding her upside down and we were doing some weird thing and somebody grabbed me on the back of the neck to start biting my neck.”

The grab led to the actor losing his balance, and as a result he took a major tumble.

“I just decked it and smashed my knee real hard on the ground,” he added. “I think that’s the only time I’ve been injured making a film.”

McAvoy’s height has been a problem in the past with the star previously revealing that he’s been turned down for a number of movie roles because of it.

“As a shorter man, I sometimes get told I’m too short for a role,” he told The Telegraph in 2019. “Or even when I get a role, I’m made to feel like, well, of course, we’re going to have to do something about that,” the 40-year-old added.

He was referencing an unnamed female co-star who said their on-screen relationship seemed unlikely because of their height difference.

She reportedly questioned McAvoy’s casting “because nobody would believe (the character) would be with someone like her”.

“That was a kick in the nuts,” he admitted.

“I was like, ‘All right, now I’ve got to pretend that I really like you for eight more weeks. This is going to be really tough because you’re so far up yourself’. It got really interesting, that relationship.

“Sometimes you’re made to feel like you’re not good-looking enough to get a role.
