Thunder’s Bismack Biyombo appears to collapse on sideline in scary scene

Oklahoma City Thunder center Bismack Biyombo had a scary moment on Wednesday night.

The 31-year-old, who was congratulating teammates on the sideline during a timeout in the first half of the Thunder’s 128-120 road win over the Portland Trail Blazers, fell backward and appeared to collapse.

Fortunately, Biyommbo was immediately attended to by the Blazers medical staff and was soon regained his consciousness and was alert and able to walk off the court under his own power.

According to the Associated Press, the team had brought out a wheelchair, but it was not used.

The 14-year veteran was cleared of any serious medical conditions by the Blazers’ physicians, according to Bally Sports Oklahoma sideline reporter Nick Gallo.

Bismack Biyombo appeared to collapse on the Thunder sideline.

“He’s fine. He just fainted, basically,” Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said after the game. “He was in the locker room at halftime laughing and joking.”

Gallo also reported that the Thunder will hold out Biyombo for the rest of the game out of an abundance of caution for monitoring and further evaluation on Thursday.

It’s unclear what led Bismack Biyombo to fall during the game.
