Anti-Israel protesters attempt to block Biden’s way to State of Union speech

Anti-Israel protesters blocked President Biden’s route to Congress in the hour before his motorcade was supposed to set off for the State of the Union Thursday night.

The protesters, wearing black “Biden’s legacy is genocide” shirts, sat on Pennsylvania Avenue demanding a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.

Protesters were also heard yelling outside the White House and fences were erected outside Congress before the address.

The president’s speech was expected to begin at 9 p.m. ET, and he was slightly delayed leaving the White House. The motorcade successfully navigated the protesters and successfully made it to Congress, not passing by any large protest groups.

Biden, 81, has been bombarded with anti-Israel protesters in the months since the war began on Oct. 7, and has been interrupted during several speeches and being followed to different venues around the country.

He is expected to deliver remarks about the Hamas-Israel war during his State of the Union speech, announcing plans for the US military to build a temporary port to distribute aid on the coast of the Gaza Strip.
