Derrick Henry unlikely to return to Titans with star set to hit free-agent market

Longtime Titans star running back Derrick Henry is expected to find a new home in free agency.

The four-time Pro Bowler isn’t expected to be back in Tennessee next year as he is set to hit free agency next week, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

But Fowler also reported that while Henry, 30, isn’t expected back, a reunion hasn’t been completely ruled out.

Henry has been a Titans staple for eight seasons and has set a number of milestones during his time in Tennessee.

Henry has led the NFL in carries in four of the last five seasons and has paced the league in rushing yards twice, including surpassing the 2,000-yard threshold (2,027 yards) in 2020, a year he was named an All-Pro.

Henry totaled 9,502 rushing yards — which rank second in franchise history behind Eddie George’s 10,009 — and 90 touchdowns while with the Titans after getting taken in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Alabama.

Despite his age and mileage, he may still be among the more sought after veteran running backs in the off-season.

He joins a free-agent class that will include star backs Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs and Tony Pollard.
