Micah Parsons stunned by Packers’ NFL free agency ‘disrespect’

Micah Parsons did not like how the Green Bay Packers treated their now-former running back Aaron Jones.

The Packers told Jones that they were releasing him after coming to terms on a deal with free agent running back Josh Jacobs, according to multiple reports on Monday.

The news, which was reported by NFL insiders including ESPN’s Adam Schefter, was noticed by the Dallas Cowboys defensive star who did not hide his disappointment in the Packers’ decision.

“This is actually wild to me! The Aaron jones disrespect is crazy!!” Parsons wrote on X, while quoting Schefter’s report.

Jones had been looked at as a potential cap casualty by the Packers since their season ended, but a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report earlier this month indicated that the Packers had met with Jones’ representation about trying to work out a pay cut.

The March 1 report also suggested the Packers would release Jones at the start of the new league year if they were not able to work out a new deal.

Jones was slated to make a base salary of $11.1 million that carried a cap hit of $17.6 million for the Packers.

Jones had 656 rushing yards with two touchdowns in 11 games in 2023.

“He certainly had an impact on the game and an impact on our offense, an impact on our team with our late-season push,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters about Jones after the season ended. “I don’t know if we do all that without him. That’s all part of the process.”

The availability of Jacobs likely changed the Packers’ thinking, who had stated previously that they had wanted to bring back Jones.

Jones wasn’t the only major running back movement Parsons felt the need to comment on during the opening of NFL free agency.

Parsons also commented on Saquon Barkley’s decision to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles.

“sickening,” he wrote on X with three crying-laughing emoji.
