Dad accused of ditching his family, including baby, after gnarly DUI car crash into power pole

A California father has been accused of bolting from the scene of a suspected DUI crash and leaving behind his injured family — including a young child and a 5-month-old baby — inside his mangled car.

Grisly video from the scene in Los Angeles early Sunday showed a dark-colored sedan wrapped around an electrical pole, with a pool of blood visible on the ground outside the front passenger door.

The violent single-vehicle collision occurred in the city’s Hyde Park section just before 2 a.m., when the driver of the sedan also carrying a woman and two children plowed head-on into a power pole, police said.

The children’s father, who was behind the wheel, then took off from the scene, according to KTLA citing authorities.

Paramedics transported the 5-month-old baby to the hospital in critical condition, an LAPD spokesperson told The Post Monday.

The baby’s mother and her 7-year-old child, who were inside the car at the time of the crash, were also hospitalized. Their conditions were not immediately known.

The children’s runaway dad, who suffered serious injuries in the collision, was later arrested on a DUI charge. Cops did not see what type of substance the suspect had allegedly ingested ahead of the accident.
