Rep. Lauren Boebert asks judge to drop restraining order against her ex-husband

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) on Monday asked a Colorado judge to withdraw a restraining order against her ex-husband Jayson Boebert — just over a month after she alleged that her former spouse had threatened to harm her and himself.

“Jayson and I have come to some pretty strict agreements,” Boebert told Garfield County Judge Jonathan Pototsky, according to the Daily Mail.”Hopefully those are followed and we don’t have to pursue another one in the future.”

Pototsky vacated the civil protection order against Jayson Boebert and dismissed Lauren Boebert’s case seeking a permanent order after the congresswoman indicated that she had not been threatened or coerced into making her request.

The Centennial State’s Third District representative told the court in February that Jayson Boebert had “made multiple suicidal threats and threats to harm me over the past 14 months.”

Lauren Boebert further alleged that her ex notified her via text message that he entered her Stilt, Colo., home on Feb. 2 without permission to remove her personal belongings and destroy them.

In January, Jayson Boebert was charged with third-degree assault, prohibited use of weapons, obstructing a peace officer, harassment, disorderly conduct and third-degree trespassing following an alleged Jan. 9 fight with the couple’s 18-year-old son, Tyler Boebert.

The couple also had an apparent altercation on Jan. 6 at the Miner’s Claim restaurant in Silt, where Jayson Boebert called police on the Republican firebrand, claiming she punched him in the face.

Lauren Boebert referenced both incidents in her initial request for a restraining order.

On Monday, Jayson Boebert agreed to the requirements for a separate protection order filed against him by Tyler Boebert.

The order will require Jayson Boebert to relinquish all his weapons and ammunition, not consume alcohol and not threaten or harass his son. The order does not include a no contact requirement, as Tyler Boebert is currently living with his father.

Tyler Boebert was arrested last month and faces 22 criminal charges, including five felonies, following a string of alleged thefts in Colorado.
