Moment IDF commando blows away Hamas gunman with bazooka
Elite Israeli commandos took out dozens of Hamas fighters in recent battles in southern Gaza, with one soldier caught on drone footage blowing up a terrorist with a shoulder-mounted missile launcher.
Video uploaded Monday from the ongoing battles in Khan Younis showed the moment the Egoz commandos raided a Hamas nest, wiping out members of the terror group as they ascended a staircase to the top of the building.
As the soldiers searched for more terrorists inside the complex, a drone located Hamas gunmen firing at the commandos from a building across the street.
An Egoz command took out a bazooka and fired a “Matador” missile at one of the gunmen, with the drone capturing the explosive blast that killed the terrorist.
An inspection of the blast site saw the commandos locate the terrorist’s body and his rifle nearby.
The soldier was able to take out the gunman without harming a woman and two children who were located in the next room, the Israel Defense Forces noted.
Once the fighting concluded, the commando unit was able to secure the civilians and transport them away from the battlefield to receive medical treatment.
The battle was the latest taking place in the Hamad neighborhood, with the IDF engaging in intense shootouts with Hamas across the residential area since the start of the month.
Hamad, opened in 2016 as rows of modern apartments, has been destroyed by years of conflicts between Israel and Hamas.
Since Israel operations began in the area during the Oct. 7 war, the IDF said soldiers have seized explosives, rifles and ammunition and mortars used by the terror group.
With the battles intensifying in Khan Younis, the Israeli military announced Sunday that 249 troops have been killed since the ground offensive in Gaza began.
