I’m a dietitian — here are my 7 favorite Target grocery finds for weight loss
Is she on Target with her picks?
A Philadelphia-area registered dietitian credited for creating the 90-30-50 diet plan is sharing her favorite seven Target items for weight loss — ranging from protein bars to kettle chips and nonfat yogurt.
“These finds are high-protein & made with REAL ingredients, supporting blood sugar balance, metabolism & healthy hormones,” Courtney Kassis wrote in the caption of her 35-second Target run clip, which has picked up 21,600 views since it was posted late last week.
Her grocery list includes:
- Good & Gather Organic Creamy Peanut Butter — Kassis says the ingredient list is “10/10”
- Primal Kitchen Caesar Dressing made with avocado oil — Kassis is a fan of “everything!” the brand makes
- Good & Gather protein bars — she “loves every flavor” and likens them to RXBAR protein bars
- Siete Foods kettle-cooked potato chips, which are dairy-, gluten- and soy-free and made with avocado oil — “Chips with SIMPLE ingredients!!” Kassis praises
- Good & Gather Grain-free Almond Cashew Granola, which has 5 grams of sugar per serving. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends men limit their daily added sugar intake to 36 grams and women consume no more than 25 grams.
- High-protein cereals made by Catalina Crunch and Magic Spoon
- Good & Gather Greek Plain Nonfat Yogurt, which Kassis notes is low in sugar and rich in protein
A few of Kassis’ items feature avocado oil, which has been shown in research to aid weight loss, reduce the risk of diabetes, and lower cholesterol levels, thanks to its heart-healthy monounsaturated fatty acids.
Several of Kassis’ TikTok followers praised her “awesome suggestions” and “great choices.”
Kassis made headlines last year for her 90-30-50 weight loss method, which involves eating at least 90 grams of protein, 30 grams of fiber and 50 grams of healthy fats every day.
The Recommended Dietary Allowance for protein is 0.36 grams per pound of body weight.
The AHA, meanwhile, advises eating at least 25 to 35 grams of fiber a day.
And if you’re on a 2,000-calorie daily diet, the Mayo Clinic says your fat consumption should be limited to 44 to 78 grams a day.
Also in recent weeks, a registered dietitian revealed the six foods she never leaves Costco without.
