Dallas police investigating Dak Prescott over alleged 2017 sexual assault

Dallas police have confirmed that they are investigating a sexual assault claim against Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott after it was filed on March 12, according to multiple reports.

The allegations come after Prescott filed a lawsuit in Collin County, Texas on Monday, claiming that the alleged complainant was trying to extort him for $100 million, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

A separate police investigation by the Prosper Police Department has been launched into the extortion claim.

Dallas opened the sexual assault inquiry over an alleged incident that took place on Feb. 2, 2017, in the parking lot of XTC Cabaret.

The complaint was filed Tuesday after Prescott filed a lawsuit against Victoria Shores and her legal team the day before.

The 11-page court filing by Prescott claimed that Shores and her attorneys, Yoel and Bethel Zehaie, were trying to extort $100 million out of the QB in order to keep the sexual assault claim from being made to police or coming out publicly, the Star-Telegram reported.

Prescott’s attorney, Levi McCathern, told ESPN on Thursday that he found the timing of the police complaint interesting, considering the recent lawsuit filing and separate investigation by law enforcement into the extortion claims.

“Clearly they think that this will somehow mitigate their criminal responsibility for attempting this illegal shakedown,” McCathern said to the outlet. “It won’t, and it is a true disservice to the real survivors of sexual abuse.

“We look forward to working with all law enforcement in reaching a just conclusion to this case.”

In a statement earlier this week, Bethel Zehaie alleged that Prescott had acknowledged he had been with the woman on the night of the alleged incident and claimed the NFL quarterback was attempting to bully the victim.

“We stand by the truth,” Bethel Zehaie said in a statement, according to KWTX. “Dak and his lawyers are trying to be bullies and play hardball and victim blame. We are not afraid of the truth.

“Dak needs to be held accountable for his behavior. We are not afraid of him or his legal team.”
