Parent says airline execs should be ‘behind bars,’ for serving ‘disgusting food’: ‘Kids spent 14 hours without eating’

When the food on an airline is so bad, the kids would rather starve for 14 hours than eat, you know something’s very wrong.

On Monday, a passenger traveling on a long haul flight from Melbourne to Los Angeles slammed Qantas online.

“Most disgusting food we had in our lives,” they said.

“One bite of every meal served in Qantas QF93 was horrible. Kids spent 14 hours without eating anything at all.

“Should put the criminals who are running this crappy airline behind bars.”

It’s not an isolated event. All over the internet, people are posting photos of Qantas food: pizzas that look more like microwaved ingredients melted into a takeaway box and braised ribs left sitting under heatlamps so long, the meat has sunk to the bottom of the sauce leaving a pile of bones on top.

Qantas, people have had enough, and they’ve been calling out the Australian airline online, calling it an embarrassment with “disgusting food.”

Qantas slammed for terrible food

A Sydney to Melbourne flight served the infamous microwaved “pizza” pile in a box, while on other flights people were served grey mush that might have been shepherd’s pie.

It wasn’t just passengers on flights suffering with bad food. Those on the ground in airport lounges also complained about the quality of the food too.

“This was served up for paying customers,” one person wrote, sharing a photo of braised ribs.

The dish is under a heat lamp in a double boiler. It looks like it’s been sitting so long, the meat has fallen off the bones and sunken to the bottom of an oily pool. Left on top is a huge pile of rib bones.

“The airline has truly gone to the dogs.”

Qantas apologized for the lounge meal, with a spokesperson telling the Daily Mail she was “incredibly disappointed with how this meal was presented.”

“We pride ourselves in delivering enjoyable dining experiences and this falls well short of our high standards.”

In a Reddit thread discussing the cost of memberships, most agreed that paying for membership was no longer worth the money

“This to me speaks volumes,” one person captioned a photo of a drink station. “Qantas posts a billion + profit yet their idea of luxury in a lounge is a cordial stand. Every year they hike prices and reduce quality, maintaining record numbers.”

One frequent flyer who had achieved Lifetime Gold status told Yahoo he’d stopped flying with Qantas, saying the state of the frequent flyers lounges in some airports was shocking.

“I can’t believe how bad the level of Qantas has got while their prices are ridiculous compared to other airlines,” he said.
